I cannot believe a week went by so quickly. I am always doing something or chasing somebody and time flies.
It was my birthday on Friday 15th. A year older if not wiser.
I went to the 18th floor of Taberner House on Saturday for the Open House exercise. Bromley Council had sent me the book. Croydon Council representatives were complaining there were fewer people than last year because local papers had not publicised the matter! It is so easy to blame somebody else. What did they do?
It was quite interesting to see Croydon from above. It looked like a town without a soul, grim and tired. So did the Council offices on the 18th floor. What a shame!
I remember coming to Croydon from Clapham Common for Antique Fairs. It was so different.
Today I went to Addington Village to visit St Mary's. If you concentrate on the church and ignore the land in-fills and the noise around, you could almost believe you are in a different world. Have I caught the English disease of yearning for the countryside? Actually I am quite happy in Shirley, that is why I want to defend it at all costs.
When I came home, I had a look at my mail and found out that another hole appeared in Midholm Road. It was hastily filled
(see below). The same questions come to mind: how did the Council re-surface that part of the pavement? How many times do we pay for the same job? Why do we have to accept substandard jobs? What can we do? I have a few answers and will let you know soon.......about the burnt car too .......
HELLO
NICE blog. i think the croydon pics look quite nice. didnt realise how many trees there were in central croydon and all those houses ( as opposed to office blocks)
and that roundabout looks very pretty.

Hi Marzia
A belated Happy Birthday to you. Nice pics of St Mary's - I was christened there and my parents were married there.
On the subject of work on pavements and roads, have you noticed how many roadworks there are around Croydon at the moment? It astounds me that the Council start the work AFTER the school holidays. Surely it would be more sensible to at least start the work during the school holidays to avoid the most disruption? Or am I too sensible?
